resin which resemble sand, water treatment experts may (1) remove hardness ions
in a process known as"softening" through which calcium and magnesium
ions are exchanged for sodium or (2) demineralization, utilizing ion exchange
resins having the capacity to eliminate nearly all dissolved minerals from
water, producing final product which may be considerably decreased in dissolved
ions compared to bottled water....
